Welcome to NYLF Explore STEM Reviews! This site was created to help provide potential National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Explore STEM attendees with firsthand accounts from students and parents of students who have attended these programs. Whether you received an invitation in the mail or heard about it from a friend or teacher, we hope to supply you with the information you need to make the most informed decision possible.
What is NYLF Explore STEM?
NYLF Explore STEM is a summer program for middle school students (grades 6-8) who have shown an interest and aptitude for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
For 2019, the program will be held at 11 locations across the country, including Emory University, Villanova University, and the University of Denver.
During the program, attendees participate in hands-on simulations and workshops, including a simulation created in collaboration with doctors from Stanford Medicine. The theme of the program “Mission to Mars.” While planning for their simulated mission, attendees gain exposure to careers in four STEM fields: Medicine, Civil Engineering, Robotics Programming, and Forensic Science.
Attendees also hear from a former NASA astronaut and have the opportunity to choose the experience that is best suited for them by selecting either the six-day Residential or the five-day Day program.
